Artist’s Statement

In the year 2007 I reached a point in my artistic work, where I had to think about new concepts.

I felt, that my phase of creating naturalistic sculptures had come to an end.
I picked up upon a series of earlier works, where I had already abstracted the human form.
The decisive inspiration was my sculpture Resting Head from the year 1992.
I reduced  the figure further to a half moon and indicated delicate features.

In the opened mouth the breath connects with the universe.

To me, there is great wealth of inspiration in nature, especially in the woods. With nature as my  teacher, I discovered deep sources of creativity. In my new works I wish to portray the power and purity of nature.

Capturing the atmosphere of the woods.
